The BWF India Open Super 750 will be held at the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium, New Delhi, from January 13 to 18, 2026, marking a major upgrade in scale and fan experience. The tournament moves from the KD Jadhav Indoor Hall to the larger venue, which has a seating capacity of over 8,000, more than double that of the previous location.
Organised by the Badminton Association of India (BAI) under the aegis of the Badminton World Federation (BWF), the USD 950,000 prize-money event is a flagship stop on the BWF World Tour, offering 11,000 ranking points. It will also serve as a test event ahead of India hosting the BWF World Championships in August 2026.
BWF India Open 2026: New Venue For The World’s Best
The Super 750 event will once again feature the world’s top shuttlers, including An Se-young, PV Sindhu, Kunlavut Vitidsarn, Lakshya Sen, and Indian men’s doubles stars Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty. Fans will also get a glimpse of India’s emerging talent such as Unnati Hooda, Ayush Shetty, and teenage prospect Tanvi Sharma.
BAI General Secretary Sanjay Mishra described the venue shift as a key milestone in the tournament’s evolution.
“The larger venue allows us to accommodate significantly more fans while delivering a better on-ground experience for players and spectators alike.
“As Indian badminton continues to grow in stature, it is essential that our flagship events evolve in step, creating spaces where the sport, the athletes and the fans can all thrive together,” said Mishra.
“Moving the India Open to the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium marks an important step forward.”
