On Tuesday, the Indian Premier League fans witnessed a thrilling match as Rajasthan Royals won by 2 runs against Punjab Kings as they both played their first match of the 2nd Leg of IPL 2021 at the Dubai International Stadium. Rajasthan Royals clinched the victory from the jaw of defeat and Punjab Kings were left stunned. Virender Sehwag shares what went wrong for Punjab Kings.
Wow! Defending 4 in the final over, giving away only 1.
Brilliant from Kartik Tyagi. Punjab can only blame themselves #PBKSvRR— Virender Sehwag (@virendersehwag) September 21, 2021
While talking to Cricbuzz, the former Indian player Virender Sehwag gave his opinion that the openers of Punjab Kings should have guided the team to victory. Both Mayank Agarwal and KL Rahul had made a 100 Run partnership before getting out. Mayank Agarwal made 67(43) and KL Rahul scored 49(33), they both were chasing Rajasthan Royal’s total of 185.
“Singling out the player for defeat would be a bit difficult for this match. I would say that luck didn’t favor them but still if we have to pick someone, it should be Mayank Agarwal. If you are in form and scoring runs then you should finish the game and not leave it on anyone else… I always talk about Ruturaj (Gaikwad), he scored 89 not out, played 20 overs, even played the last ball and hit a six which probably won the game for CSK,” Virender Sehwag said to Cricbuzz.
Virender Sehwag – It is the responsibility of the top-3 batsman
Sehwag added: “Mayank Agarwal and KL Rahul should do the same because that is the responsibility of the top-3. The new batsman doesn’t know much about the pitch or how to play on it but you are there for 40-50 balls. The team shouldn’t lose like this. If it was for Chris Gayle, I guarantee that if he had scored 50-60, he wouldn’t have let PBKS lose. He would have won the game for them.” He also mentioned if Chris Gayle was in the Playing XI, he would not have Punjab Kings face defeat.
Meanwhile, Match 33 of IPL 2021 takes place today between Delhi Capitals and Sunrisers Hyderabad at 7:30 PM Indian Standard Time (IST) at the Dubai International Stadium.
