320 players are capped on the total registrations, meaning they have already represented their countries in international cricket. In contrast, there are 1,224 uncapped players along with 30 athletes from Associate Nations. However, not every registered player will be part of the final auction list. Only those who catch the interest of at least one of the 10 IPL franchises will make it to the bidding stage.

Among the notable figures, 48 capped Indian players and 272 international stars have shown interest. Additionally, 965 uncapped Indian players and 104 uncapped overseas players have thrown their hats into the ring. Following India, South Africa leads with 91 registrations, with Australia (76) and England (52) close behind. Interestingly, players from the USA, Canada, Scotland, the UAE, and Italy have also joined the pool, while Pakistani players remain excluded from the IPL.

This year’s auction presents only 204 slots, as each of the 10 franchises can sign up to a maximum of 25 players. With several big names expected in the lineup, including Shreyas Iyer, Rishabh Pant, and KL Rahul, along with international stars like Jos Buttler, this auction is anticipated to be one of the most exciting in IPL history.

The auction will also set the tone for the next three-year IPL cycle until 2028, with new rules stipulating that only registered international players from this year’s auction will be eligible for the mini-auction scheduled in 2026.
