THE FREAK IS BACK AND HOW! It’s too late to save Lucknow Super Giants’ IPL 2025 campaign, but Rishabh Pant finally reminded everyone of his impeccable talent. On Tuesday (May 27), he made a roaring comeback as he smashed a brilliant century against Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the Ekana Stadium.
Rishabh Pant Made A Roaring Comeback Against RCB
Pant had a tough season with the bat. He started with a duck against Delhi Capitals, followed by low scores like 15, 2, 2, 21, 63, 3, 0, 4, 18, 7, and an unbeaten 16. His poor form led to heavy criticism and hurt LSG’s chances.
After winning 4 of their first 6 matches, LSG could win only 1 of their next 6, crashing out of the playoff race.
Rishabh Pant couldn’t lead from the front when LSG needed him most earlier in IPL 2025, but he finally found his form, though a bit too late for the team’s playoff hopes. Still, LSG will be relieved to see their captain back in touch.
Pant scored his second IPL century – and his first since 2018 – against Royal Challengers Bengaluru. Promoted to number three, he made the most of the chance, staying unbeaten on 118 from just 61 balls, hitting 11 fours and 8 sixes. Thanks to his efforts, LSG posted a strong total of 227/3.
Batting first, LSG had an early setback when Matthew Breetzke fell in the third over. But Pant and Mitchell Marsh turned things around with a massive 152-run stand for the second wicket. Marsh was out in the 16th over for 67 off 37 balls, dismissed by Bhuvneshwar Kumar. Pant reached his fifty in 29 balls and brought up his century in 54 balls, finishing with a flourish.
