Irfan Pathan Presents His Preferred Playing 11 of India for the T20 World Cup
Former cricketer, now presenter, Irfan Pathan expressed his choice for playing 11 in Australia. Surprisingly, the legendary bowler has kept wicketkeeper and batter Rishabh Pant out of his preferred team.
The BCCI has finalized India’s T20 World Cup squad and made them responsible for competing for the coveted ICC Trophy. Now, it’s on the members of that squad to prepare and ultimately present their best game in the championship. However, as the countdown begins, netizens and prominent cricketing names are discussing the possible combination for the playing 11.
The 15-member squad put forth by the selection committee is identical to the one from the recently concluded Asia Cup. Rishabh Pant, Dinesh Karthik and Deepak Hooda, among others will continue their journey with the team in Australia too after UAE. Moreover, Axar Patel is still on the team as Ravindra Jadeja misses out due to his knee injury.
Jasprit Bumrah and Harshal Patel are back in the squad after positively recovering from their respective injuries. The seamers are the key to the performance of the bowling line-up. Moreover, pace prodigy Arshdeep Singh has also received his maiden World Cup call. Yuzvendra Chahal and Ravi Ashwin will bring the spin attack to the play.

Former cricketer, now presenter, Irfan Pathan expressed his choice for playing 11 in Australia. Surprisingly, the legendary bowler has kept wicketkeeper batter Rishabh Pant out of his preferred team. “See, in my opinion, if you’re playing the first match, you need to have some experienced bowlers including one spinner,” he said.
“So, from the top, my playing 11 would be – Rohit, KL Rahul, number three – Virat (Kohli), number four – Suryakumar Yadav, number five – Deepak Hooda, number six – Hardik Pandya, number seven – Dinesh Karthik, number eight will be a right arm leg spinner so it would be (Yuzvendra) Chahal, 9 to 11, where there will be Jasprit Bumrah, Harshal Patel and along with that you can go for Bhuvaneshwar Kumar,” Irfan Pathan added.
“So, there will be a combination here, three fast bowlers out of which two are quality fast bowlers, who will be able to bowl at the death as well. And I will make sure that I have the combination and the liberty to choose from the three fast bowlers, even Arshdeep (Singh) to handle the death bowling So, in my opinion, in the playing 11, the spinner is clear, it’s just whether I can make space for Arshdeep in the team,” he further elaborated.
