World No.1 became the most watched out player ever since the early exits of World No.2 Novak Djokovic and World No.3 Carlos Alcaraz from the US Open 2024. The felling of top players in early rounds had left tennis fans in a huff.

Now, both Sinner and Medvedev will be looking to exploit the space created by the departures of Djokovic and Carlos Alcaraz at US Open 2024.

The Italian who recovered from 4-1 down in the first set to see off Paul, expressed his anticipation of the upcoming match against Medvedev.

“It will be another tough match with Daniil. There will be a lot of rallies so I have to be ready physically,” said Sinner.

Medvedev is the only former US Open champion left after the first week defeats of four-time title winner Djokovic and 2022 champion Alcaraz.

Sinner and Medvedev will be clashing for the fourth time this year. The Italian came back from two sets to love down to defeat the Russian in the Australian Open final and got the better of him in the Miami semi-finals. Medvedev then defeated Sinner at Wimbledon in a five-set quarter-final.

Medvedev, too, shared his thoughts on the upcoming clash with Sinner.

“I will try to think more about Wimbledon than the Australian Open,” said Medvedev. “With Jannik, I feel like we know our games, what we will try to bring to the table, and then it comes to always this moment’s deuce, breakpoint, maybe try to surprise him or not, what he will do, what I will do.”
