Sinner won the final by putting up a dominant show to outclass his rival 6-3 6-4 7-5 at the Arthur Ashe Stadium. He became the first Italian to win a major title in New York.

The Italian is just the fourth man to win the Australian and US Open titles in the same year since both tournaments were held on hard courts from 1988.
“This title means so much. The last period of my career was not easy. My team supports me every day. I practice a lot for these kind of stages. Off the court there is a life, and I would like to dedicate this title to my aunt. It’s so nice to share a positive moment with her.”
Fritz was bidding to become the first American winner of the major since Andy Roddick in 2003, but was unable to manifest his American dream.
