The duo complements each other very well. They play an identical style of cricket. Both have the hunger to go for big runs. Once they settle in, it is difficult to get them out. After Shikhar Dhawan was left out of the T20Is due to age issues, Rahul became a regular member of the playing eleven as the opener.

Earlier, he proved his worth as the opener in the IPL, by winning the orange caps while playing for the Punjab Kings. Rohit and Rahul opened for India in the 2021 T20 World Cup. The duo registered some big partnerships in the last three innings. However, India’s fate was decided after the first two matches, where they lost against New Zealand and Pakistan.

What to expect in the 2022 T20 World Cup?

Rohit and Rahul have regained their touch. The duo has an aggressive approach, and the idea is to attack and tire out the opponents. A year later after the World Cup, they still are one of the most prolific opening pairs, similar to Babar Azam and Mohammad Riswan.

India will require both their top stars to be in their best form. The Men In Blue aim at clinching the World Cup, and they know that a good beginning can set the tone.
