Lamine Yamal Is Ready To Extend his Contract With Barcelona After Breakout Season

Lamine Yamal, A Barcelona starter at 15, Kopa Trophy winner at 16, Euros winner with Spain at 17. A breakout star from the Barcelona Academy has been getting the Ballon D’or shouts this season. 

Many people don’t recognise the altitude of this statement, but to put this to context at this age usually professional players are playing at U-18 level or are trying to break into first teams or going on loans to lower leagues to get some game time but Lamine has been an exception in this analogy as he has displayed great mental and physical progress along with his footballing talent.

This season under Flick he has blossomed into a great creative playmaker as he has raked in assists galore in the Spanish league. He has managed 5 goals and 11 assists in 21 appearances in La Liga. In the UEFA Champions League, he has 2 goals and 2 assists in 7 matches.

“I don’t know when (the contract will be signed), but I believe it’ll be soon,” he said at the recent Globe Soccer Awards in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

“In the end, Barça is the club of my life. I hope to renew my contract with them and to be with them as long as possible.

“I want to play in the Spanish league. I want to play for Barça, and yes, I will renew my contract. I will.”

He has suffered through injuries as well this season as the La Liga defenders have tried to tackle the brilliance of Yamal through physicality but his growth has been immense under Flick’s strict training regime.

The strength training that he has been doing has shown his will-power to better his game at every aspect.

This brilliance at such a small age was last seen at Kylian Mbappe’s rise through the Monaco team. He is the only example that has some similarities in Yamal’s case and to look now at Mbappe we can be safe by saying that when Yamal reaches his prime, he will be one of the dangerous players to go against.
