Lingard helped England to a 4-0 win against Andorra at Wembley. England had 89% of the ball in the entire game.

Lingard gives England the lead

Lingard opened the scoring for England in the 18th minute of the game after a defensive header fell kindly for the attacking midfielder.

The move started near the halfway line when Tyrone Mings stole the ball from the Andorran striker.

Jude Bellingham, who gathered the ball, with a neat little footwork escaped his marker and plays the ball to Lingard, who released Saka on the left wing.

The Arsenal wide-man played a threatening cross into the box. The ball headed out by the defense only went as far as Lingard, who placed the ball in the bottom corner of the goal for the opener.

Three minutes later, Lingard again scored a goal with a beautiful chip over the goalkeeper. However, the goal was ruled out for offside.

In the 35th minute of the game, left-back Kieran Trippier played a beautiful ball into the box from a free-kick. Patrick Bamford nodded the ball into the path of center-back Conor Coady whose acrobatic effort blazed just over the cross-bar.

A minute later, Trent Alexander Arnold, who surprisingly started the game in midfield, played a beautiful cross-field ball in the path of Jude Bellingham, who controlled the ball effortlessly and took a shot at the goal and narrowly missed it.

England again dominated the proceedings in the second half.

Three minutes into the second half, right-back James found unusually in the midfield, let go off a thunderous shot that rattled the cross-bar.

Southgate made three changes with about half an hour to go. Mason Mount, Jack Grealish, and captain Kane replaced the impressive Jude Bellingham, James, and Bamford respectively. Trent Arnold went back to his natural right-back slot.

In the 71st minute, substitutes Grealish and Mount combined beautifully inside Andorra’s penalty area ending in the Chelsea man being brought down inside the penalty area. As a result, the referee awarded England a penalty. Harry Kane, who replaced Bamford in the second half took the penalty and scored to double England’s lead.

Six minutes later Jesse Lingard once again scored, after ranging a shot from just outside the penalty area. The Manchester United man did not end it there as he, in the 85th minute played a beautiful cross towards Bukayo Saka, who headed home England’s fourth of the night.

England with this victory remains unbeaten in the qualifiers and is yet to drop points. They have scored 17 goals and have conceded just 1 goal. Meanwhile, Andorra is placed fifth in the table with three points to their name.

The three lions now travel to Warsaw for their match against Poland on Thursday. However, Poland comes into the England game with high confidence after their 7-1 demolition of San Marino last night. Meanwhile, Andorra next faces Hungary on the 9th of September.
