In their last IPL 2025 clash in Vizag, Delhi Capitals (DC) beat Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in a thrilling match, winning by one wicket with three balls left – thanks to a brilliant knock by Ashutosh Sharma.

That win was part of DC’s four-match winning streak, but their form has been inconsistent since. They lost to Mumbai Indians, won a Super Over thriller vs Rajasthan Royals, and then lost to Gujarat Titans. DC’s biggest issue has been their unstable top order – they’ve tried four different opening pairs but have the lowest average opening partnership (21.28) among all teams.

On the other hand, LSG’s strong top order has been key to their success, helping them win five games and sit at No. 5 on the points table. Their bowlers were impressive in the last match, snatching a win from the Rajasthan Royals. However, Rishabh Pant’s poor form with the bat remains a concern.

As for their head-to-head record, both teams have won three games each. Tonight’s match will break the tie.

After winning the toss, DC captain Axar Patel said he chose to bowl first because the red-soil pitch suits that strategy, and dew is expected later in the game. He said:

“We’ll bowl. Red soil wicket and there was dew in the last game as well.”

Meanwhile, Rishabh Pant said that LSG also wanted to bowl first but will now focus on putting up a good score. He said:

“Definitely (would have bowled first). It stops a bit in the first innings, gets better as the game progresses.”
