Reincarnated Luka Jovic’s Brace Powers AC Milan To Coppa Italia Finals: Crush Inter Milan On Derby Day

Della Day Madonnina brought the house down

Once again the Della Day Madonnina brought the house down but this time the scenario looked different. Despite having an abysmal season, AC Milan have turned the luck around and have advanced to the final of the Coppa Italia.

Sérgio Conceição might be parting ways with Milan but has given the Rossoneri the ultimate gift. Inter Milan’s dreams of the treble are shattered and AC Milan would be rejoicing that they are the ones who have crushed Inter’s hopes.

Although Inter looked like the more threatening team in the first half as they produced more chances but a Jovic header coming against the run of play proved to be decisive for the Rossoneri.

The Nerazzurri looked like the more threatening side at least till Jovic scored. Dimarco went just shy of the goal in the 23rd minute when his shot hit the post from a Barella cross.

Then in the 33rd minute another chance went begging as Lautaro Martinez blasted the ball over after an excellent reverse pass from Taremi. But after 3 minutes , Jovic pounced on an inviting ball in from  Jimenez and thumped the header into the back of the net.

In the 49th minute, Jovic struck again from a corner

Then in the 49th minute, Jovic struck again from a corner as the ball pinballed from Pulisic and fell kindly for him. With this, Rossoneri took an unassailable lead in the tie. Inzaghi produced many substitutes but to no avail.

The Nerazzurri consequently see their hopes of a treble ended, and they must now regroup in their efforts to win the Serie A title and Champions League.

Meanwhile, Milan – whose xG of 1.20 only slightly outperformed Inter’s 1.15 – can now go for a first Coppa Italia title since 2003.
