Manchester United will take on Liverpool in their first huge test of the season. The match takes place at Old Trafford on a Super Sunday fixture. Ole Gunnar Solksjaer’s men have been inconsistent throughout the campaign. Meanwhile, Liverpool sits a point below table-toppers Chelsea.

Manchester United

Bruno Fernandes, Fred, and Marcus Rashford could be missing for Manchester United. The trio suffered a knock during the Champions League tie with Atalanta in midweek. However, manager Solksjaer is confident that the trio could make it into the team before the game. Raphael Varane will miss the tie with a groin injury. However, Anthony Martial has returned to full fitness after returning unfit from international duty with France and is available.

Liverpool

Curtis Jones should be back in contention for Liverpool. Jones missed last weekend’s game against Watford and the Champions League clash with Atletico Madrid with an injury sustained on England U21 duty. Meanwhile, Thiago Alcantara will miss the clash with Manchester United through an injury to his calf. The player may not return to the squad until after the November international break.

Match preview

Manchester United has had an inconsistent start to the season despite winning four of their first five league outings. Since the loss against the Young Boys in the Champions League, Ole’s men have been knocked out of the EFL Cup, lost against Aston Villa and Leicester. In Europe too, despite winning two matches since the defeat at Young Boys, United has been unconvincing.

Meanwhile, Liverpool looks like one of the early favorites for the league title. Klopp’s men have been firing on all cylinders and seemed to have found their mojo of 19/20 season. They remain the only unbeaten team in the league.

Manchester United has won only one game out of their last ten with their historic rivals. They have lost six matches and drew the other three. Adding to that fact United has not kept a clean sheet at home in any of their last 10 home games.
