Mohammed Shami shares the secret to how Indian pace battery became the best

In an interview, Shami revealed enjoying each other's success it the key to do well as unit.

India after a long wait has a powerful test pace bowling unit. Thanks to the likes of Ishant Sharma, Mohammed Shami, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Umesh Yadav, and Jasprit Bumrah. Every time India wanted to make a move, in an evenly poised game, one of these five bowlers has put their hand up and made sure India was over the finish line more often than not.

In a recent interview with Cricbuzz, Shami spilled the beans as to why Indian pacers have grown in stature.

On being asked what is the secret he said –
“Our fast bowling unit is a great package where everyone works hard while also understanding the other counterparts well. The bonding and the fun you saw that day was because we enjoy each other’s success a lot. We are happy when the other one is happy.”

Shami who is a regular in test playing eleven stated that they try to lift each other in times of stress and make the atmosphere around a bit light. Also enjoying each other’s matters a lot.

“Even if someone’s down and out, we make sure that we lift his spirits. We try to make them forget all the stresses and try to lighten the mood. I think all bands should be like that because to play for your country is indeed a matter of pride. But this unit that we have built since 2013-14, you’ll find that the guys enjoy each other’s success a lot,” said Shami.
“We’ve curated such a healthy atmosphere within the last 5-6 years that you’ll find it hard to believe,” he added.

Mohammed Shami, Ishant Sharma, and Jasprit Bumrah will be seen in action in the World Test Championship final against New Zealand and test series against England, both in England.
