Virat Kohli has finally triumphed against all odds and has proclaimed his return to form. Kohli smashed his 71st century in the game against, the maiden in the T20I in the Asia Cup against Afghanistan. With an elongated wait tied behind its back, the 71st when finally arrived, caused an uproar. Appreciation for the modern-day-great batter poured in from everywhere.

And now, the BCCI president and former cricketer Sourav Ganguly has also praised Kohli for his unmatched run in the game. Ganguly has backed Kohli previously too when the chatter against his inclusion in the team grew louder due to his poor form.

Sourav Ganguly puts Virat Kohli first in terms of skills

Despite reports of Kohli’s feud with the board, he has iterated that the management allowed him to express his game freely. Moreover, he has talked about the support that the captain, coach, and management put in for him. Additionally, constantly backed him all through this time.

“He’s a very big player, there for a long time. I know he has his own formula to score runs. It’s not possible that players of his stature can’t have such a long lean patch, I know he will definitely score runs. If he was not a great player, he would not have scored so many runs for so long,” Ganguly had said at the time when Kohli was struggling with runs.

And now when the runs are officially in, Ganguly enunciated that Kohli is way ahead in skills than many including him. “The comparison should be in terms of skill as a player. I think he is more skillful than I’m. We played in different generations, and we played a lot of cricket. I played in my generation, and he will continue playing, probably playing more games than I did. At present moment, I have played more than what he has but he’ll get past that. He is tremendous,” said Ganguly.

Ganguly talks about dealing with trolls

Moreover, Ganguly also talked about the trolling that players have to face consistently and how he dealt with that in his time. “Everybody has been under media scrutiny. Just the names keep changing over a period of time,” Ganguly said.

“Half of it I won’t get to know because I wouldn’t read so much. I would enter hotels and the first thing I would say at the reception is, ‘Boss, don’t put the newspaper under my door in the morning’,” he revealed.

“But now it’s obviously a lot more. Social media, everything is on your computer, on your phone. But I think cricketers find a way to just shut that off,” he went on to say.
