Newcastle On The Verge Of 3rd Place Finish: Eddie Howe Ready To Create History With Magpies, Credits- Reuters
Newcastle United have turned the heat on and Crystal Palace are the latest victim to their sorcery. They have routed the Eagles in the Premier League with a score line of 5-0 after defeating Manchester United last weekend 4-1.
Newcastle are riding on cloud 9 as they have entered the business quarter of the league with a bang. With this win in the mid-week they have moved into the third place with 59 points.
Newcastle has been on a good run since March and have won the last 6 matches in all competitions including the EFL final win against Liverpool.
After enduring a rough start in the Premier league, they are back on track and look to finish their best position in a long time in the league.
Harvey Barnes is also going through a purple patch as he scored 2 goals against Manchester United and now almost 2 against Crystal Palace.
Brilliant on the run, the ever ready Barnes is always on the lookout to pick-pocket the defence and has become the second highest goal-scorer for Newcastle after Alexander Isak. he has scored 9 goals and assisted 3 in 27 games that he has played in the Premier League.
He has performed so well that he had made it tough for Gordon to just breeze back into the first team fold. This is credit to Eddie Howe and his staff’s ability to get the very best out of players.
If they finish 3rd they will have their best season since 2002/03. As Howe spent a sixth night in hospital recovering from pneumonia, Jason Tindall once again pulled on Newcastle’s managerial tracksuit.
“A really good team performance,” said Tindall, who revealed he had received a congratulatory text message from Howe but had “no update” on the manager’s condition. “We spoke pre-game about being really aggressive and on the front foot and we executed that brilliantly.”
With Tonali reading the play impeccably, Palace were second‑guessed at every turn and swiftly wore the bewildered expression of a team that had conceded 10 goals in five days.
So much for the visiting manager Oliver Glasner’s pre-match comment that his club “are in one of the best situations in our history now”.
