Marcus Stoinis Powers Punjab Kings to 200+ Total
Punjab Kings were struggling at 144/5 in the 16th over when the Australian allrounder joined captain Shreyas Iyer at the crease. Stoinis then played a quick and powerful innings, scoring an unbeaten 44 runs from just 16 balls. His knock included 3 fours and 4 sixes, helping his team cross the 200-run mark.

In the 17Th over, he went after Mukesh Kumar. After Shreyas Iyer took a single on the first ball, Stoinis hit a six on the next. A wide followed, then Stoinis smashed another six. Mukesh bowled another wide after that. On the fourth ball, Stoinis hit a four and then took a single. Iyer finished the over with a four, and the over ended with 25 runs.
Later, in the 19th over, Stoinis attacked Mohit Sharma, hitting him for two sixes and two fours. With Kuldeep Yadav giving away just 3 runs in the 18th over, Punjab needed a big over, and Stoinis stepped up to make it happen.
Stoinis Opens Up About Covid Battle During IPL Break
After the innings, Marcus Stoinis said he had Covid during the IPL 2025 break while he was in Australia.
He went home right after the IPL was paused for a week earlier this month. When the tournament started again, Stoinis didn’t join Punjab Kings right away and missed the match against Rajasthan Royals.
“Unfortunately I had Covid. So rested and came back up,” said Stoinis.
