Ravi Shastri in isolation after testing positive for Covid-19

The Indian head coach along with three other non-playing staffs is in isolation.

Ravi Shastri, the head coach of the Indian cricket team tested positive for Covid-19 on Saturday evening. Subsequently, Ravi Shastri has been placed in isolation at the team hotel by the medical team as a precautionary measure.

Meanwhile, bowling coach Bharat Arun, fielding coach R Sridhar, and physiotherapist Nitin Patel have also been isolated. All three staff members are isolated as a precautionary measure.

“They have undergone RT-PCR testing and shall remain in the team hotel and not travel with Team India until confirmation from the medical team,”
Jay Shah, BCCI’s honorary secretary said in the statement. The statement came less than half an hour before the start of play on the 4th day of the England vs India Test at The Oval.
“The remaining members of the Team India contingent underwent two Lateral Flow Tests – one last night and another this morning. The members upon returning negative COVID reports were allowed to proceed for Day 4 of the ongoing fourth Test at The Oval.”

Jay Shah added in his statement.

India resumes day four of the Oval Test in a strong position in its second innings. They lead the home side thanks to good top-order batting performance on the third day. The blues have put 270 runs on the board and have seven wickets in the hand. Skipper Virat Kohli and Ravindra Jadeja will resume the innings for the visitors. Ravi Shastri, previously had said that the game is still wide open.
