Indian all-rounder Ravichandran Ashwin has tested positive for COVID-19 ahead of the final Test in England.
The Indian cricket team got bad news before the final Test match against England in Edgbaston. Indian all-rounder Ravichandran Ashwin has tested positive for COVID-19 ahead of this big Test match against England. It was reported on Tuesday morning that Ashwin hasn’t travelled to England as he has been tested positive.
Ravi Ashwin is one of the important players of the Indian team, especially in Test cricket. With the kind of form he was in, India needs him in the 6th and final Test match against England which will be played at Edgbaston starting from 1st July. Ashwin was rested for the 5-match T20I series against South Africa. The last game he played was an IPL 2022 final against Gujarat Titans. Ravi Ashwin performed well in the IPL 2022, not only with the ball but also with the bat. He also won so many matches for Rajasthan this year.
Due to COVID-19, Ravi Ashwin delayed travelling to England. Some of the Indian players have already started training in England. Rishabh Pant and Shreyas Iyer travelled after the fifth T20I between India and South Africa got cancelled. Indian team would hope Ashwin joins the squad as early as possible before this big Test match.
