Rohit Sharma's Unmatched ICC Finals Run

Rohit Sharma set a new record in the history books by becoming the first-ever captain to lead his team in all their ICC tournament finals. With the latest victory over Australia in the semifinals of the Champion Trophy 2025. Rohit has taken their team to another final in Dubai. Under his captaincy, the India team played in the World Test Championship 2023, ODI World Cup 2023, T20 World Cup 2024, and ICC Champions Trophy 2025.

Captain Rohit Sharma has set a stunning record that even MS Dhoni or Virat Kohli couldn’t achieve in their careers. While Dhoni remains India’s most successful captain after winning all three ICC trophies. In his captaincy, India won the inaugural T20 World Cup in 2007, after which India won their 2nd ODI World Cup in 2011, and at the last team, India won the ICC Champions Trophy in 2013.

During his time as captain, there was no World Test Championship, so he never made it to the final. In a similar vein, Kohli led India to the Champions Trophy final in 2017 and the World Tough Cricket Championship final in 2021, but he was unable to lead them to as many cross-format summit matches as Rohit. After that, India won only one ICC trophy under Rohit’s captaincy. They won the T20 World Cup in 2024 in the West Indies.

India entered the semi-final against Australia, undefeated in the tournament, having topped their group with three wins in their three group stage matches. In the semi-final against the Australia team, India, chasing 265 runs, Virat Kohli played a fantastic knock of 84 runs, ensuring a four-wicket victory and going to another ICC final appearance. This is India’s third consecutive ICC final in the last two years.
