World No. 1 Iga Swiatek defeated first-time Major finalist Jasmine Paolini 6-2, 6-1 at Roland Garris on Saturday, also making history as the third woman to win three consecutive French Open titles. Swiatek survived an early wobble.
In the third game of the first set, Paolini, the 12th-seeded Italian player, defeated Swiatek to take a 2-1 lead. The 23-year-old Pole, however, quickly recovered and won 10 games in a row on Court Philippe-Chatrier.
Down 0-5, 28-year-old Jasmine Paolini, managed to hold serve, but it only extended her defeat.
After Monica Seles (1990–1992) and Justine Henin (2005–07), Swiatek is the third woman to win three consecutive titles in the Clay Court. She won her first Grand Slam at the same location four years ago and also holds a US Open 2022 title.
