Board of Control for Cricket in India president Sourav Ganguly has had his say on India’s captaincy. The former Indian cricketer feels it is not ideal to have so many captains in the short period of time and feels it wasn’t correct. But Sourav thinks it happened with the Indian cricket team due to some unavoidable situation.

Indian cricket team has made 8 new captains since June 2021. Indian fans have seen so many new Indian captains leading the side in different series. Since 2021, Virat Kohli, Shikhar Dhawan, Rohit Sharma, Ajinkya Rahane, KL Rahul, Rishabh Pant, Hardik Pandya, and Jasprit Bumrah, all these players have been given the chance to lead the Indian side. Now for the upcoming ODI series against West Indies, Shikhar Dhawan is again made captian by BCCI.

“I fully agree that it is not ideal to have seven different captains in such a short span of time but it has happened because of an unavoidable situation. We had KL (Rahul) leading in ODIs and then for this recent SA home series, KL got injured one day before the series would start,” Ganguly told PTI.

Sourav Ganguly feels injury to Rohit Sharma and some experienced players had left them with no option but to give the responsibility to some new players in the team.
