While Bangladesh got off to a fast start in the three-match home ODI series against Ireland with a record ODI total, Shakib Al Hasan, their star all-rounder, became the third cricketer to achieve the ODI double – 7000 ODI runs and 300 ODI wickets. Bangladesh batted first in the first ODI series opener in Sylhet.

The hosts set a new ODI record of 338/8 in 50 overs.

Shakib Al Hasan scored 93 off 89 balls (nine fours) in the first innings, while Towhid Hridoy scored 92 off 85 balls (eight fours and two sixes). Mushfiqur Rahim, the wicketkeeper-batter, also scored 44 runs off 26 balls (three fours and three sixes).

Graham Hume led the Irish bowlers with figures of 10-0-60-4.

Shakib completed his 7000th ODI run during that innings. The left-handed batter scored 7069 runs in 216 ODI innings. He became the second Bangladeshi player to reach 7000 ODI runs.

In the first ODI of the Sylhet series, Ireland were bowled out for 155 runs (30.5 overs). Only George Dockrell (45), Stephen Doheny (34) and Paul Stirling (22) scored more than 20 runs in that innings.

Ebadot Hossain of Bangladesh took four wickets (4/42), while Nasum Ahmed of Bangladesh took three wickets (3/43).

Bangladesh won that ODI by 183 runs, their largest margin of victory in ODIs (by runs).
