Sumit Nagal’s Wimbledon 2024 Journey Ends After Loss In Doubles

Sumit Nagal will now represent India at the Paris Olympics 2024 later this month.

India’s Sumit Nagal made an exit from Wimbledon 2024 after going down in the men’s doubles competition. The pair of Sumit Nagal and Dusan Lajovic lost to Spain’s Pedro Martinez and Jaume Munar in the first round of the men’s doubles.

Nagal and his partner Lajovic lost in straight sets to the pair of Spanish opponents in a match that went on for an hour and seven minutes. They went down 6-2, 6-2 in a match that was out-and-out dominated by the Spanish duo despite showing a glimmer of fight in the first set.

The double’s defeat brought the curtains down to the journey of Sumit Nagal at the Wimbledon 2024 as he had already bowed out from the men’s singles competition in the first round itself.

Grass Court Woes For Sumit Nagal

The Indian has attributed his early exit from Wimbledon 2024 to his lack of exposure to the grass court.

“This being my debut at Wimbledon, adapting to grass was challenging. I believe I gave it my all, fought hard throughout. In hindsight, my serve and a few tactical decisions could have been better,” Nagal admitted in a TV interview.
