Sunil Gavaskar’s big statement, it is difficult for Pakistan to defeat even India’s B team
India easily defeated Pakistan by six wickets in the group match of ICC Champions Trophy 2025 , after which the discussion about the gap between the two teams has intensified. Indian cricket legend Sunil Gavaskar has made a strong comment on the current form of Pakistan’s ODI team. He believes that Pakistan’s condition is so bad at the moment that they can even lose to India’s B team.
“The B team will give tough competition, I don’t trust the C team” – Gavaskar
Speaking to Sports Today, Gavaskar said, “I think India’s B team can definitely give a tough fight to Pakistan. I cannot say much about the C team, but it will be very difficult for Pakistan to defeat the B team.”
India’s win in this match played on Sunday was their 8th win in the last 10 matches. The special thing is that all the wins in India have been one-sided, which clearly shows the difference in the current situation of both teams.
Pakistan out of the semi-final race
On Monday night, New Zealand defeated Bangladesh and knocked Pakistan out of the race for the semi-finals of the Champions Trophy. The team captained by Mohammad Rizwan has lost both the matches in this tournament so far. Their next match is against Bangladesh, but now this match is just a formality.
“Pakistan’s bench strength is weak” – Gavaskar
Gavaskar also said that he was surprised to see Pakistan’s weak bench strength.
He said, “Pakistan has always had natural talent. Their players may not necessarily be technically perfect, but their game has always been natural.”
Citing the example of Pakistan’s great batsman Inzamam-ul-Haq, Gavaskar said, “If you see Inzamam’s stance, you would not advise any young batsman to adopt it. But he had tremendous temperament, due to which he was able to cover even the technical weaknesses.”
Difference between IPL and PSL
On this occasion, Gavaskar also clarified the difference between IPL and Pakistan Super League (PSL). He said that IPL has taken Indian cricket to new heights, while Pakistan is still lagging behind.
Gavaskar said, “How are so many young stars emerging in white-ball cricket in India? The answer is IPL. After playing there, the players go to Ranji Trophy and then play for India. Pakistan needs to consider this. They have to understand why their bench strength is not the same as before?”
After this comment of Gavaskar, questions are being raised again on Pakistan cricket. Will Pakistan bring changes in its cricket system? Will they learn something from Indian cricket? These are such questions, whose answers will be given only by time. But at this time the situation shows that even the main team of Pakistan is not in a position to defeat India’s B team.
