Telangana CM Celebrates Victories of Nikhat Zareen and Nandini in Asian Games

Telangana’s Chief Minister, K. Chandrasekhar Rao, has expressed his joy and pride in the remarkable achievements of two talented individuals from the state, Nikhat Zareen in boxing and Agasara Nandini in heptathlon, at the Asian Games held in China. He commended these medal-winning athletes for not only bringing honor to Telangana but also for making India proud on the international stage.

The Chief Minister celebrated the fact that Telangana Gurukulams, educational institutions in the state, are fostering the development of exceptional athletes. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to supporting and nurturing sports talents, with the aim of achieving even greater milestones in the global sporting arena.

Agasara Nandini secured a bronze medal in heptathlon during the ongoing Asian Games, representing Telangana as the sole athlete in athletics from the state. Currently pursuing her second year of BBA at Telangana Social Welfare Residential Women’s Degree College in Sangareddy, Nandini’s journey began with her education up to the 10th standard in Gurukul School, Narsingi.

Nandini holds the distinction of being among the first batch of students at the Telangana Social Welfare Welfare Residential Education Institution Society’s Athletics Academy. Her father, Yallaiah, a tea shop owner, enrolled her in Gurukula school, recognizing her passion for sports alongside her dedication to academics. Nandini consistently displayed exceptional performance at various international events, garnering well-deserved accolades.

Nikhat Zareen’s journey in sports began at the age of 12 when she participated in an athletics meet in Nizamabad. Notably, she became the second Indian boxer to achieve multiple World Championship wins in the women’s boxing senior category, following in the footsteps of the legendary Mary Kom.

Nikhat’s father, a cricket and football player himself, played a pivotal role in nurturing his four daughters as aspiring sportspersons. Their dedication and hard work have truly paid off, bringing honor not only to their family but to the entire nation.
