The Indian Premier League (IPL) is now universally associated with entertainment. International cricket fans eagerly anticipate the start of the biggest T20 extravaganza.

Since the first game, IPL has lived up to the same essence as T20 cricket, which is no longer a mystery. Fans still clearly recall Brendon McCullum’s 158-run performance in the inaugural IPL game. Since then, the tournament has seen as many as 66 centuries. Some, though, moved somewhat more slowly.

This article will look at the top five slowest centuries in IPL history:

1. Manish Pandey – 67 balls vs Deccan Chargers

The first Indian to score a century in the IPL was Manish Pandey. The current batting captain of the Hyderabad Sunrisers scored a century against the Deccan Chargers in 2009 while he was still a 19-year-old rookie for Royal Challengers Bangalore. The daring batsman scored 114 runs off only 73 balls, embellished with ten tasteful fours and four enormous sixes.

He finished his tonne in 67 deliveries, making him the IPL’s slowest centurion. It was still a pretty impressive knock, though, as his team outscored the opposition by 12 runs. Although Pandey’s play may have earned him the reputation as the IPL’s slowest centurion, it did put him in the spotlight because he was the first Indian to score a century.

2. Sachin Tendulkar – 66 balls vs Kochi Tuskers Kerala

In the IPL, Sachin Tendulkar, a legendary batsman and one of the best to ever play the game, played a crucial role for the Mumbai Indians. In 2011, against Kochi Tuskers Kerala, he scored his only IPL century, which is the second-slowest score in league history. The 48-year-old veteran hit 12 graceful boundaries and three sixes in his 100 runs off 66 balls. On the final ball of the innings, Tendulkar took a single through extra cover to complete his century. His century, though, came in a losing effort.

3. David Warner – 66 balls vs Kolkata Knight Riders

David Warner, the Australian opener, is regarded as one of the game’s most lethal batsmen. The former captain of Sunrisers Hyderabad has scored the most runs of any foreign player in the IPL. The Southpaw defeated Kolkata Knight Riders in 2010 and scored his team’s first IPL century. He scored a century off just 66 balls, which enabled his team to put up a significant total.

Warner, in his charismatic style, hammered the opposition bowlers for nine stylish boundaries and five massive sixes during his 107-run innings off 69 balls. Thanks to Warner’s memorable century, Delhi Daredevils defeated Kolkata by 40 runs in this game.

4. Kevin Pietersen – 64 balls vs Deccan Chargers

Kevin Pietersen, a former English stalwart, scored one of the IPL’s slowest centuries against the Deccan Chargers. Pietersen scored an unbeaten century off just 64 balls while Delhi Daredevils were attempting to reach the target, giving them the victory. The 41-year-old batsman’s impressive knock included nine towering sixes in addition to six exquisite boundaries. In the 20th over, Pietersen hit a graceful six to finish off his century and give his team the victory.

5. Virat Kohli – 63 balls vs Gujarat Lions

In 2008, Indian captain Virat Kohli began his IPL career. He is now regarded as one of the greatest batsmen in the history of international cricket. In 2016, he snatched a stunning century from the Gujarat Lions. With the help of 11 classic boundaries and one six, Kohli scored 100 runs off just 63 deliveries.

At the very end of the innings, the 32-year-old cricketer hit a boundary to complete his incredible century. Virat’s impressive century was in vain as Gujarat defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore in this match.
