Top-G creates history qualifies for the CS:GO World Esports Championships

Top-G defeated team Purr-ple with the score line of 2-1 at the ongoing National Esports Championships.

Top-G team wrote their name in the history books by being the first all female Indian CS:GO team to qualify for the World Esports Championships (WEC). The team consists of Captain Swayambika Sachar (Sway), Shagufta Iqbal (xyaa), Nidhi Salekar (Stormyyy), Dilraj Kaur Matharu (COCO), Aastha Nangia (CrackShot) and substitute Priyanka Choudhary (ALEXAA).

Following their scintillating win against team Purr-ple in the finals of National Esports Championships organized by the Esports Federation of India, Top-G became the first Indian all female team to qualify for the WEC.

The finals were a closely contested match where Top-G won the first map by 16-10 the second map saw team Purr-ple make a sensational comeback to win the map by 16-14. The third and final map was all set to create nail biting finals where Top-G with their teamwork were able to hold their nerves and emerged victorious with the score line of 19-15 taking the game into overtime.

Captain Swayambika ‘Sway’ Sachar on the win

‘Sway’ Sachar said “Winning the finals was an unreal feeling for all of us. We felt so many emotions before, after, and most importantly during the match and the adrenaline rush was on another level.”

Vinod Tiwary, President of the Esports federation of India said, “It gives us immense joy to see a female team representing India at the World Esports Championships for the first time in history. We would like to congratulate Top-G on their remarkable accomplishment and look forward to them winning at the regional & global finals in Romania.”

The 15th of WEC finals will happen in Romania from August 24 to September 4 where the prize pool will be of $500,000 (INR 4.12 crores). The competition will have more than 130 teams participating and is set to be the largest edition of the tournament to the date.
