Tottenham Hotspur vs Chelsea – #GameZero

Tottenham Hotspur and Sky Sports team up in an initiative towards a zero-carbon future. As a result of the initiative, Spurs vs Chelsea is named as #GameZero.

The #GameZero is created to raise awareness of the threat of climate change and inspire football fans to make changes that will help reduce carbon footprint. #GameZero will demonstrate the steps that can be taken by the sporting world for a zero-carbon future.

The goal of #GameZero is to be net-zero carbon emission. Premier League and COP26 also support the initiative.

Sky Sports managing director, Jonathan Licht said that they are proud to be working together with COP26 and Tottenham Hotspur on #GameZero.

Spurs’s chairman, Daniel Levy said that the club is looking forward to showcasing its range of sustainable measures that are already in place. He hopes the fans would be encouraged by seeing this, to take simple actions for a zero-carbon future.

Meanwhile, COP26 President-Designate, Alok Sharma feels that climate change affects every aspect of our lives. He is delighted about working along with Tottenham, Chelsea, and the Premier League. Sharma hopes #GameZero will show how football is going #OneStepGreener by hosting the world’s first major net-zero football match.

Tottenham Hotspur – Greenest club

Tottenham Hotspur was chosen as the Premier League’s greenest club earlier in the year. UN-backed Sports positive Summit carried out a study at the premier league clubs. Spurs has a range of sustainable measures implemented across its operations.

The club and Sky Sports are also both signatories of the UN Sports for Climate Action Framework. Meanwhile, both Sky and Spurs are also founding partners of Count Us In. The global movement aims at rallying one billion people in the fight against climate change.

COP26 Climate Change Conference

#GameZero is played six weeks ahead of the UN’s COP26 Climate Change Conference. The conference is hosted by the UK Government in Glasgow. The COP26 will bring together world leaders to accelerate global action to fight climate change.

CUP26

Sky Sports and the UK Government are also partnering with “CUP26” and from September 7, fans can sign up for free at cup26.co.uk. They can score goals for their club by completing planet-protecting activities.

Spurs will also form part of the UK Government’s Together for our Planet campaign. The campaign celebrates what individuals and organizations across the country are doing to go #OneStepGreener to protect the planet ahead of COP26.

The trophy will be awarded to the winners in the first week of the COP26 conference.

Tottenham plays Chelsea on September the 19th at home. They have won all of their first three games. As a result, Spurs lead the Premier League standings.
