The Asia Cup final between Sri Lanka and Pakistan is halfway into reaching the climax. The first inning with Sri Lanka losing the toss and batting first followed a topsy turvy curve. The prodigious Pakistani seamer Naseem Shah bowled out Kusal Mendis in the very first over giving an early breakthrough to his team. Moreover, Haris Rauf, in turn, amputated the Lankan inning by scalping 3 important wickets.

Sri Lanka was in a sensitive place having lost 5 wickets for just 58 runs in the first 9 overs. However, amidst all the dwindling, Bhanuka Rajapaksa rose to the occasion. Rajapaksa scored an unbeaten 71 off 45 to lead his team to a fighting total of 170. Wanindu Hasaranga also helped Rajapaksa stabilize the Lankan innings with an impressive cameo of 36 off 21.

The death overs were filled with adrenaline-rushed moments which in turn presented many entertaining sights for the audience. Rajapaksa and Chamika Karunaratne turned on the gears in the death overs as they punished Naseem Shah in the 17th over. Rajapaksa and Chamika both hit sixes to Shah, collecting a total of 16 runs off the over.

Come 19th over, Shadab Khan managed to put an epic picture on the field. As Rajapaksa hit the ball to travel too high, Khan in his attempt to catch it knocked over Asif Ali who almost had the ball in his hand. The knock caused the ball to bounce off Ali’s hand and directly over the boundary. The epic drop was an imitation of the past catch drops of the Pakistan side. And as soon as Khan created the “knocking-over-dropping-the-ball” scenario, the internet went berserk.
