England won the first Test match against New Zealand by 5 wickets. Former England cricket team captain Joe Root led the team to victory as he scored an amazing century on Day 4. The first Test match between England and New Zealand had so many twists and in the end, the hosts took the game away from the Kiwis. New Zealand won the toss and decided to bat first in Lord’s cricket ground. They were bowled out by England bowlers on 132 runs. England team also didn’t have a great time with the bat as they were also bowled out on 141 runs.
New Zealand set the target of 277 runs for England and the hosts lost some early wickets during the chase. It was skipper Ben Stokes and Former captain Joe Root who stabilised their innings and made the game easy for them. Ben Stokes scored 55 runs whereas Joe Root scored a stunning 115* runs. With this win, England is leading this 3-match Test series by 1-0. Twitter erupted after Joe Root become the ‘lone warrior’ and won it for England against New Zealand.
Kallis was already 38. But Smith retired at 33. And Cook a little before he was 34. Williamson is 31 and too far away. If Root can be consistent and injury free for another 75 tests, maybe…. We'll look at it in 2025, though I think that landmark, like Muralitharan's is safe.

The way Joe Root and Ben Foakes batted and took England to victory against New Zealand is a fine demonstration of responsibility, discipline and character.
That is true professionalism.

100 and 10,000 happened to Joe Root at the same time.
This was obvious, given that √10000=100.
