1. Bayern Munich (2017-2022, 40 matches) 

German giant Bayern Munich holds the record for the longest unbeaten run in the group stages of Champions League. The 40-match unbeaten streak started back in 2017. The Bavarians’ last defeat in the group stages came back in September 2017 against PSG. Since then, the German giants have been absolutely ruthless in group stages, accumulating 90 plus points in those 40 matches.  The German champions have managed to keep the win.

2. Real Madrid (2012-17, 30 matches) 

Real Madrid is the most successful club in Champions League history winning the trophy four times between 2010 and 2020, including three consecutive titles. The Spanish club were a formidable force during the group stages between 2012 to 17 as they recorded a 30-match unbeaten run. Their unbeaten run finally came to an end when they were defeated by Tottenham Hotspur 1-3.

3. Barcelona (2016-20, 25 matches) 

Barcelona have been a team to watch out for in every edition of the Champions League. After Barcelona’s defeat against Manchester City in November 2016, the Catalans forged a 25-match unbeaten run. The undefeated streak came to an end in 2020 only after their defeat against Juventus. Barcelona notched up 63 points in that run. 

4. Manchester City (2018-21, 18 matches)

Manchester City have dominated the football scene in the last decade. This can be fathomed in their incredible performance as they went unbeaten in the group stages for 18 consecutive matches between 2018 and 2021. Their run finally came to a halt after they faced defeat at the hands of PSG in the 2021-22 season.

5. Barcelona (2009-12, 18 matches) 

Barcelona had a dream run between 2009 and 2012 under manager Pep Guardiola. With stalwarts like Lionel Messi, Xavi and Andres Iniesta in the squad, the Catalans won the Champions League in 2009. The Spanish club won the title twice in three years between 2009 and 2011. Their 18-match unbeaten run in the group stage ended in 2012 when they were defeated 2-1 by Celtic.
