West Ham go fifth after 2-1 win over Burnley

West Ham had been winless in last 3 Premier League away games against Burnley, last winning at Turf Moor in May 2017. Burnley have also been winless in their last 7 Premier League home games. Both teams were in a desperate need of a win at Turf Moor. Burnley played a 4-4-2 formation with Nick Pope as the Goalkeeper and Vydra and Chris Wood up top. David Moyes men started with a 4-2-3-1 formation with Antonio as their lone striker.

The match kicked off and Burnley started playing a possession-based football. Just before the 20-minute mark Chris Wood was fouled by Soucek in the penalty box and penalty was awarded to Burnley. Chris Wood stepped up and kicked the ball in the bottom left corner of the net. Burnley 1-0 West Ham United.

In response to the early goal, West Ham responded in a classy way. West Ham started playing a high line, created a lot of chances and converted them as well. Not after long, Antonio scored a powerful header courtesy of a pinpoint cross by Coufal in the penalty box. Home team’s lead only lasted 2 minutes and the scoresheet read Burnley 1-1 West ham.

West Ham kept on pressing and Antonio scored again in the 29th minute with a peach of an assist by Benrahma in the penalty box. In 30 minutes of the game, the whole scenario changed. West Ham, the team which was trailing in the first 20 minutes was now ahead by 2-1. First Half ended with Burnley 1-2 West Ham United.

Burnley in the second half created some really good chances. Vydra and Rodriguez had some great chances to score but both of them failed to convert it. The game ended with a victory for West ham at Turf Moor and it helped the David Moyes and company to finish at 5th place in the Premier League table. With 4 more games to go, it would be a tough fight for West Ham to get into the Champions League spot.
