BCCI President Sourav Ganguly on Sunday hinted that India B will travel to Sri Lanka for a tour during July. Since most of the big players will be in England for the test series, many youngsters may get the maiden call.

“We have planned a white ball series for the senior men’s team during July where they will play T20 Internationals and ODIs in Sri Lanka. Yes, it will be a team of white-ball specialists. It will be a different team,” Ganguly told to PTI.

This also hints that India will have a new captain for the limited-overs series against Sri Lanka. Now the question that arises is that who’s gonna be the captain? And who can manage the team in absence of main players including the likes of Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah, and KL Rahul?

Here are a few of the possible answers

Can it be Shikhar Dhawan?
it is speculated that India’s senior opening batsman Shikhar Dhawan can lead a relatively young and inexperienced squad during the Sri Lanka tour. Since Shikhar Dhawan is also not a part of the test team which will be in England, so he’ll be one of the senior most players in the squad.

Can it be a young captain Such as Shreyash Iyyer or Hardik Pandya?
Since Shreyash Iyyer is already captaining Delhi Capitals for a long time so he is also one of the players who is speculated to be Captaining the team. Other than Iyyer Hardik Pandya is also one of the important members of the team, especially in T20i matches. He may also lead the team in absence of senior leaders.
It is to be noted that there are no official statements from BCCI on this aspect. We have to wait until the team is announced to clear most of our doubts.
