Players like Joe Root, Usman Khawaja and Babar Azam lead the list for the most runs scored in the 2021-23 cycle. Here is a look at the players who scored the most runs in this WTC cycle.
- Joe Root
The English top-order batter and former captain scored 1915 runs during this cycle. He scored the most runs against the Indian bowling line-up. Out of his tally of 1915 runs, 737 came against India. During this season he scored 8 centuries and 6 half centuries. His highest score was 180*.

- Usman Khawaja
Usman Khawaja ranks second on this list with 1608 runs scored during the cycle. The Australian opener scored the most runs on Australia’s historic away tour of Pakistan. Against Pakistan, Khawaja scored 496 runs as he helped Australia win the series 1-0. Khawaja scored 6 centuries and 7 half centuries. His highest score was 195*. He will have a chance to add to his tally in the final against India but it is likely that the will finish second on the most runs scored list.
- Babar Azam
Babar Azam scored 1527 runs during the 2021-23 cycle. The Pakistani captain scored 390 runs during Australia’s tour of Pakistan. He even scored 348 against England when they visited Pakistan. Azam scored 4 centuries and 10 half centuries with his highest score being 196 runs.
- Marnus Labuschagne
Australian top-order bats rank 4th on the list of players who scored the most runs during the 2021-23 WTC Cycle. Marnus Labuschagne scored 1509 runs which included 5 centuries and 5 half centuries. He even scored a double century which was also his highest score. His best came when West Indies toured Australia, in just 4 innings against the West Indies, Marnus scored 502 runs at an exceptional average of 167.33. He will have a chance some more runs in the final against India. He is just 18 runs behind 3rd placed Babar Azam and it is highly likely that he will dethrone the Pakistani captain from that spot.
- Jonny Bairstow
Jonny Bairstow ranks 5th with 1285 runs scored in the WTC 2021-23 cycle. He scored 6 centuries and 2 half centuries. He scored the most of his runs against India. He scored 404 runs against India including 2 centuries. His highest score during this period was 162.
