LSG vs MI, IPL 2025: Rohit Sharma will not play in Mumbai Indians‘ match against Lucknow Super Giants on Friday (April 4), as captain Hardik Pandya confirmed during the toss.

Hardik won the toss and chose to bowl first in the 16th match of IPL 2025, being held at the Ekana Cricket Stadium. This is MI’s fourth match of the season, and they are looking for their second win.

The five-time champions started their season with a loss to the Chennai Super Kings. Then, they played poorly again and lost to the Gujarat Titans. They finally got their first win in their third match, beating the Kolkata Knight Riders by eight wickets.

After finally getting their first win in IPL 2025 and gaining some much-needed confidence, MI will be looking to keep the momentum going and defeat LSG too. However, they’ll have to do it without their most experienced player, Rohit Sharma.

LSG vs MI, IPL 2025: Hardik Pandya’s Comments at the Toss

At the toss, Hardik Pandya said that Rohit Sharma won’t be playing in the match. He explained that Rohit got hit on his knee and is sitting out because of the injury. With Rohit out, Will Jacks will open the batting for MI. He said:

“We are gonna bowl first. Looks like a fresh wicket. Not sure how it is going to play. Looks a decent track. Dew might come in later. Thought better to chase. I think we in a group have spoken that we don’t want to talk about the wickets,” said Pandya.

“We are here to play good cricket. That’s the talk we have. Let’s not talk about the surfaces. I think adaptation. Sticking to right plans and being smart. Lot of runs are being scored. Cricket is situation based. Rohit was hit on the knee. He is missing out. Jasprit should be back soon,” he added.
