Belgian Grand Prix 2025: Spa Circuit set for drama, change and comeback

This week the Belgian Grand Prix is set to take place and the iconic Spa-Francorchamps circuit is back in the spotlight. This race is part of a double-header before the summer break and fans are very excited. Along with the track drama there have also been major updates inside the paddock that are making headlines.

Everything changes for Red Bull at Spa

The 2025 Belgian GP marks a new beginning for Red Bull as Christian Horner is no longer the Team Principal. Just three days after the British Grand Prix he was removed from his operational duties. Now Laurent Mekies who was earlier with Racing Bulls is taking over.

Under Horner Red Bull won 8 drivers’ and 6 constructors’ titles but this year the form seems to be missing. The team is currently in fourth place in the standings and Spa will be the first big test under new leadership.

All eyes will be on how Max Verstappen and Mekies react to this change and how other team bosses respond on the grid.

Verstappen and Russell story gets more interesting

Even after Silverstone the talk about Max Verstappen’s future did not slow down and with the new team boss the story has grown even more. In 2023 when Red Bull was at its best Max said that keeping the team together was very important. But since then many big names have left and Horner is the biggest name on that list.

Talks about a link between Verstappen and Mercedes were already going on and now fans are watching closely after Verstappen and Toto Wolff were seen in the same town in Sardinia.

It is not clear if it was just a holiday or something more but at the Belgian GP the media will surely ask questions.

Sauber shows how to make a strong comeback

At the end of the British GP Nico Hulkenberg surprised everyone by getting the first podium of his career. This podium was a big moment not just for the driver but for Sauber as well because it was their first podium in 13 years.

After the Spanish GP they brought strong upgrades and in the last 4 races they have scored 35 points which puts them among the top 4 performing teams.

Now with Spa being a very demanding track the big question is if Sauber can keep up this form or if other teams will return stronger.

Ferrari is quietly preparing for a strong fight

Ferrari has not won a race in 2025 yet but since Imola where they brought upgrades the team has shown steady improvement.

They focused on rear suspension to fix handling problems that Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton were facing. At Mugello they used a filming day to test some new parts.

If these updates bring out the full power of the SF-25 car Ferrari could become a real threat. So far they have three podiums in the last five races and are slowly moving into second place in the Constructors’ standings.

Spa Circuit is a real test for F1 drivers

Spa-Francorchamps is a dream circuit for every Formula 1 driver. The track has a great mix of high-speed straights and tricky middle sections. Famous corners like Eau Rouge and Blanchimont make it even more exciting.

The weather here is also hard to predict. One part of the track can be dry while another is wet. This makes racing here very interesting and full of chances to overtake.

This weekend Spa will also have a Sprint race which is only the second time it is happening here. Last time there was a wet Sprint and a dry Grand Prix. More racing at Spa is always exciting.

Belgian GP 2025 is full of drama and excitement

The 2025 Belgian Grand Prix at Spa-Francorchamps is not just another race weekend. It is a full drama package. Red Bull leadership change Verstappen future talks Sauber’s strong form Ferrari’s smart plans and Spa’s unique nature all come together to make this race one of the season’s biggest highlights.

Fans who want to watch real Formula 1 action with stories and strategy should not miss this race.
