India’s experienced stars Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli earned the clock back in their favor at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG), creating a masterclass that not only secured a memorable victory for India but also assisted them in attaining a number of record-breaking feats in ODI cricket.

Virat Kohli Becomes Second-Highest Run-Getter in ODIs

14,255 Runs: With another smooth innings, Virat Kohli now has 14,255 runs in One-Day Internationals, going past Kumar Sangakkara’s total of 14,234.

At 38 years and 178 days, Rohit also became the second-oldest Indian to score an ODI hundred behind Sachin Tendulkar, who was 38 years and 327 days when he scored 114 against Bangladesh in 2012.

Additionally, Rohit is now the second-oldest batter to score an ODI century in Australia, after Geoff Boycott (39 years and 51 days, SCG 1979).

Kohli-Rohit Partnership: A Golden Duo Rekindled

12 150+ partnerships: The Rohit Sharma-Virat Kohli combination now share the record for most 150-plus partnerships in ODIs (12) equalling the great Tendulkar and Ganguly’s record. 19th Century Stand: Their most recent stand was their 19th century partnership, ranking third on all-time list.

Tendulkar-Ganguly: 26 century stands

Sangakkara-Dilshan: 20

Rohit-Kohli: 19

1454 Runs Against Australia: The duo has now scored 1,454 runs in ODIs against Australia in 27 innings only second to Desmond Haynes and Richie Richardson’s 1,484 runs against Pakistan. Their most recent 100-run partnership was after a wait of 2,106 days the previous one against Australia in January 2020.

India’s Rare Win at the SCG

India’s win at the SCG was only their third ODI victory over Australia there earlier wins were achieved in 2008 and 2016. The score was a perfect background for a night when Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli made history yet again.
