WPL 2026 Schedule: The 2026 Women’s Premier League season is set to be full of firsts. Most remarkably, the final will take place on a weekday for the maiden time in history. The league gets underway on January 9 and will run for 28 days. It will host two Saturday double-headers and matches across two major Indian venues.
Final Set for a Weekday in Historic Change
For the first time in four editions, the WPL final won’t be held on a weekend. It’s slotted for Thursday, February 5, which is a sizeable departure from the previous seasons. The Eliminator will be played two days before that on February 3.
This development is happening at a time when the calendar of the game is full, as the Men’s Under-19 World Cup concludes on February 6 and the Men’s T20 World Cup starts on February 7.
WPL 2026 Schedule: Venues and Match Distribution
The WPL 2026 Schedule splits the 22 league fixtures across:
Navi Mumbai (DY Patil Stadium)
Hosts the first 11 matches.
Includes both Saturday double-headers.
Most of the matches, excluding early double-header games, will be evening fixtures.
Vadodara (Kotambi Stadium)
Hosts the remaining 11 games
Venue for the Eliminator and the Final
This will be the first time the WPL is played in the January–February window without clashing with any major international fixtures, another milestone for the league.
Teams and Past Performances
The Mumbai Indians come in as defending champions, having won two of the first three seasons.
The only other franchise to have lifted the trophy is Royal Challengers Bengaluru.
The Delhi Capitals have finished runners-up in all three editions so far.
GG and UPW have never appeared in a final thus far.
After the tournament, India will leave for an all-format tour to Australia starting February 15.
