ICC Player Of The Month For March: For March ’26, India’s Sanju Samson and New Zealand’s Amelia Kerr (women’s cricket) have been selected as the ICC Players of the Month.
After performing brilliantly for defending champions India at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, Sanju reached the podium in March 2026 by finishing with an unbeaten 89 in the final against Australia.
Amelia also won award number three due to her continued fine form with bat & ball across ODIs & T2Os during March including 63 runs and taking 5 wickets.
Sanju Samson Issues Statement After Being Named “ICC Player of the Month For March”
After earning the ICC Player of the Month Award, Sanju Samson said,
“Winning the ICC Player of the Month award is an incredibly special and memorable moment for me, especially as it comes during one of the most brilliant phases of my career. Contributing to our victory in the T20 World Cup feels like a dream come true. I am deeply grateful to the team and the coaching staff, whose unwavering support helped me give my absolute best.”
Samson Beats Jasprit Bumrah in the Race for the Award
In this race for the title, Sanju Samson edged out his own teammate, Jasprit Bumrah, as well as South African batsman Connor Esterhuizen. For him, this month has truly felt like a dream.
He won the 2026 T20 World Cup’s award as Player of the Tournament. He played a major role in leading India to the Championship by scoring an unbeaten 97 runs (in the virtual quarter-final vs West Indies), fabulous 89 runs (in the semi-final vs England), and another 89 runs (in the final versus New Zealand).
Thus, through his outstanding performances, not only did India win the Championship, but also became the first team to repeat as Champions in its home ground.
