SRH’s Explosive Chase Anchored by Kishan-Abhishek Partnership
Ishan Kishan & Abhishek Sharma put together an outstanding 132-run partnership on their own. They were aggressive and took total command of the match by using their aggressive stroke production and by scoring at a remarkable pace.
Abhishek Sharma got out after hitting 57 runs off 29 balls. Ishan Kishan followed that up by getting 74 runs on 31 balls and maintaining a great position for the side.
Even after an early loss of Travis Head for just 6 runs, the middle order stood out. Nitish Kumar Reddy made a quick 36 runs, Heinrich Klaasen made 29 runs and Salil Arora finished the match with a six.
In addition, this successful run chase is now the second highest in SRH IPL history. Jofra Archer and Brijesh Sharma got 2 wickets each for RR with Donovan Ferreira getting 1 wicket.
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s Record-Breaking Century Goes in Vain
The Rajasthan Royals decided to bat first after losing the toss and managed to put up an astonishing score of 228 runs mainly due to a spectacular performance by Vaibhav Suryavanshi. Vaibhav Sooryavanshi scored 103 runs in only 37 balls, hitting 5 fours and 12 sixes.
He took only 36 balls to hit a century, becoming part of the list of players who have recorded the third fastest century in the history of IPL. Yashasvi Jaiswal got out for a mere 10 runs at the start, but Sooryavanshi and Dhruv Jurel steadied their innings with a stand of 112 runs. Dhruv Jurel made a good contribution of 51 runs in 35 balls.
But the performance by other batters was not impressive:
- Riyan Parag made 7 runs.
- Shimron Hetmyer scored 11 runs.
- Ravindra Jadeja made 4 runs.
Finally, Donovan Ferreira came out swinging to contribute 33 runs in 16 balls.
SRH Bowlers Deliver Key Breakthroughs
The Rainbirds’ bowling attack held the run rate down during the end of the match against the Raptors:
- Prafull Hinge and Ishan Malinga took two wickets each;
- Saqib Hussain and Pat Cummins each had one wicket.
The late wickets taken by the bowlers stopped RR from getting to the 230+ goal established at the beginning of the game and were key to the final results.
RR vs SRH Match Impact: Points Table Shake-Up
- Sunrisers Hyderabad improved to 3rd place on the table, with 10 points.
