The 19th season of IPL 2026 will be known for the most sixes, massive totals, and unforgettable performances,  but one of the most captivating battles has been the race for the Orange Cap, as till the very end, it’s not yet decided who will win the Orange Cap among Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, Shubman Gill, and Sai Sudharsan.

With the tournament all set for the finale at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, between the Royal Challengers Bengaluru and the Gujarat Titans, the race isn’t over yet.

Rajasthan Royals teenage sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi holds the Orange cap currently with 776runs across 16 matches at a strike rate of 237.30, which features five half-centuries and a single ton. The 15-year-old showcased a jaw-dropping performance in the playoffs, scoring 96 in the Eliminator, and followed it up with 96 in the Qualifier 2 clash against the Gujarat Titans.

How many runs do Gill and Sudharsan need to surpass Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s IPL run tally?

The disappointing part for Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and his fans is that with RR knocked out of the playoff race, his total is now locked in. He can only wait and watch if Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan can surpass him on the biggest night of the season.

GT skipper Shubman Gill has showcased an impressive show with his bat throughout the season. Gill is just behind Sooryavanshi; he has amassed a total of 722 runs at a strike rate of 163.71, laced with six half-centuries and a hundred. If Gill manages to score just 55 runs in the match, he will surpass the young prodigy.

Gill will enter the final clash after smashing a big score of 104 off 53 balls against RR in the Qualifier 2 clash. If he bats deep tonight, he will be the Orange cap winner.

Sai Sudharsan is the other batter who can surpass Sooryavanshi. Sudharsan ranks third on the Orange Cap list with 710 runs, laced with eight half-centuries and a hundred. Sudharsan needs 67 runs to overtake Sooryavanshi’s run tally. One big partnership between Gill and Sudharsan is enough of surpass the RR rising star.
