Anvay Dravid is the son of the renowned batsman Rahul Dravid, who is also a former Indian cricketer and Indian cricket team coach. Anvay Dravid is just 17 years old and is a talented wicketkeeper and right-handed batsman. The Junior Cricket Selection Committee, which functions under the chairman, Mr. Sharath Sridharan. 

India Men’s Under-19 tour is set to begin from 4th July to 20th July 2026 in Sri Lanka. A total of 3 One-Day Internationals and 2 Test matches will be played at three venues. Hambantota will host all three ODIs, while Galle and Colombo will host the two Test matches respectively.

Why Anvay Dravid is Included in the Squad for the Lankan Series?

The 17-year-old made a huge remark in the Vinoo Mankad Trophy, where he captained the Karnataka U-19 team and took the team to the Top Eight stage. He bats at a very crucial position in the team, which is the middle order. Anvay Dravid scored 220 runs in 6 innings. 

His most highlighted innings came against Himachal Pradesh, where he scored 82 runs in 93 balls. His calm and controlled innings helped Karnataka chase the 236-run target easily. This innings of his and his overall performance in the Vinoo Mankad Trophy caught the attention of the selectors, and therefore, the selectors included Anvay in the squad.

Anvay Dravid’s only appearance on the international stage was against Afghanistan, where Anvay was representing India B Under-19 in the Tri One-Day International series. In that match, Anvay got out on the score of 0, but the contribution from behind the stumps was exceptional as he took 2 catches.

The opportunity for Anvay Dravid will be a golden chance to display his calm and controlled character, and he may also be picked in the next IPL auction in 2027, where, on the big stage, he can prove himself and become a great asset for the future of Indian cricket.

Anvay Dravid Inclusion and Squad of India-U19 

On June 11th, 2026, Sharath Sridharan officially announced the 50-over and Test match squads for the India U-19 team. The squad for the One-Day Internationals is: Sagar Virk, Lakshya Raichandani (VC), Yashbardhan Singh Chauhan (C), Vineeth V K, Arjun Rajput, Kushagra Ojha, Rajat Baghel (WK), Anvay Dravid (WK), Anmoljeet Singh, Vutkuri Yashveer Goud, Rohit Anil Yadav, Shavin V, Kavya Paresh Patel, Mohit Ulva, and Ishan Sood.

Whereas the squad for India’s U-19 Test matches is: Sagar Virk, Lakshya Raichandani (VC), Yashbardhan Singh Chauhan (C), Patel Kush, Manal Chauhan, Kushagra Ojha, Manav Krishna (WK), Aryan Sandesh Sakpal (WK), Hemchudeshan J, BK Kishore, Rohit Anil Yadav, Kavya Paresh Patel, Priyanshu Singh, Pranav Raghvendra, and Chigurupati Venkata.

The inclusion of Rahul Dravid’s son, Anvay Dravid, shocked everyone as the 17-year-old wicketkeeper-batter is one of the youngest players ever to make his debut at the Under-19 stage. Also, the legendary “Dravid: tag sticks with him, and hopes from him will be high in the Lankan series in July. His elder sibling, Sumit Dravid, was also picked for the India U-19 squad against Australia U-19 in 2024.
