Viacom 18 network recently acquired the OTT streaming rights for the upcoming IPL seasons. And with the recent developments, the network seems to aim at delivering an unmatched streaming experience. Viacom 18 is ready to tie up with Jio to enable a quality of streaming that’s never been experienced before by the audience.
With Jio 5G launching on Diwali this year, Viacom and Jio together are eyeing to live-stream the IPL 2023 season in 4K, ultra-high-definition mode. If executed seamlessly, this would mark the first time for the Indian market to live stream a sporting event within this refined quality. Moreover, with JIO 5G, Viacom will be able to stream the matches from multiple angles, simultaneously.
Akash Ambani explains the potential streaming of IPL 2023
IPL with Viacom18 gonna be exciting:
– Multiple camera angle from the ground.
– Viewers can select which camera angle to watch.
– Access to 'watch party' to enjoy the Live match with friends.
– 4K Ultra HD streaming enabled for the first time in IPL history.— Mufaddal Vohra (@mufaddal_vohra) August 29, 2022
Not ending here, the upcoming season’s live stream will offer a watch party to the viewers. This would enable a person to connect to a friend or many on a video call to enjoy the live match together. Akash Ambani, the chairman of Reliance Jio explained the experience that Jio fiber aims to deliver.
“Let’s take a look at how we might watch an interactive live Mumbai Indians match in the very near future with JioAirFiber on a large screen, instead of the traditional broadcast experience. The big difference you can see is that because of Giga-bit speeds of JioAirFiber, we can now deliver not just one video stream, but multiple video streams, showing multiple camera angles at the same time, and that too in ultra-high definition.”
“And we can dynamically choose which camera angle we want to focus on, while still having a preview of other video streams. This makes every game truly immersive, even better than the real-match experience, as well as personalized to suit the preferences of each and every viewer,” Akash said.
Moreover, he added, “You can even have a watch party with your friends through live video calls, no matter where they are in India, almost as if you are watching a match sitting together in a stadium.”
