Over 15 years of the Indian Premier League there have been many players who made it big. But here are Top 10 forgotten IPL stars.

There are players like Jasprit Bumrah who went on to match the potential they showed in the IPL in international cricket. But here are the 10 IPL players that never made it count despite having huge potential.

  1. Mohit Sharma

Mohit Sharma was definitely the talk of the 2014 IPL season. In the 2014 season the Chennai Super Kings seamer won the purple cap taking 23 wickets in 16 games. Sharma even went on to represent India in the limited over formats. The pacer represented India in 8 T20Is and 26 ODIs. Sharma had poor outings representing India taking only 31 wickets in ODIs and 6 wickets in T20Is. The 34 year old was bought by the Gujarat Titans in the 2023 auction for INR 50 Lakhs. In the 2022 season he was working as a net bowler fot the Titans.

  1. Paul Valthaty

Paul Valthaty rose to fame when scored a stunning hundred against Chennai Super Kings. The Kings XI Punjab scored 120 off 63 balls against CSK in 2011. His score remained the highest score of the 2011 season. Due to poor fitness level and an eye injury Valthaty did not take part in IPL after the 2013 season.

  1. Manvinder Bisla

Manvinder Bisla’s famous knock of 89 off 48 helped Kolkata Knight Riders defeating CSK in the 2012 finals. After that one knock he failed to score in the IPL. Bisla played 39 games in the IPL scoring only 798 runs at a strike rate 113.

  1. Manpreet Gony

Manpreet Gony, the pacer hailing from Punjab impressed everyone with his performances for CSK in the inaugural season of the IPL in 2008. He was the leading wicket taker for CSK in that season with 17 wickets. He even went on to play for India in ODIs for two games. In those two games the pacer only managed to take two wickets. He last played in the IPL in 2017 where he represented Gujarat Lions.

  1. Shivil Kaushik

Shivil Kaushik caught everyone’s attention due to his unusual bowling action. The spinner from Karanataka was picked by Gujarat Lions in 2016 IPL auction. His best performance came against KXIP where he took 3 wickets while giving away only 20 runs. With many poor performances with the ball Kaushik only managed to play 10 games in the IPL taking just 6 wickets at the average of 49.5.

  1. Parvinder Awana

Parvinder Awana was the star for KXIP in the 2012 season. He played for KXIP till 2015 and took 39 wickets in 33 games. He even managed to break into the international circuit and represented India twice in T20Is. In the two games against England he could not take any wickets. He was last seen in a legends league game where he played for the Indian Maharajas.

  1. Tirumalsetti Suman

Tirumalsetti Suman was a run machine for Adam Gilchrist led side Deccan Chargers. In the 2009 season he scored 237 runs and repeated his heroics again in 2010 scoring 307 runs. In his 43 match career at the IPL he managed to score 676 runs at the average of just 21. He even took 6 wickets with the ball in hand. Suman last played for Pune Warriors India in 2013.

  1. Kamran Khan

Kamran Khan was the left arm pacer who with his searing pace impressed Rajasthan Royals camp which earned him a contract with the Royals in the second edition of the IPL in 2009. He was even given the responsibility of bowling the super over by the Royals against KKR in 2009 he repaid the faith as Royals emerged victorious in that game. Khan last played for Pune Warriors India in 2011.

  1. Swapnil Asnodkar

Swapnil Asnodkar was the opener for Rajasthan Royals. He along with Graeme Smith was the most successful opening pair of the inaugural season. He played 20 games in the IPL and scored 423 runs. Asnodkar last played in the IPL for the Royals in the 2011 season.

  1. Rahul Sharma

Rahul Sharma, the tall leg spinner from Punjab impressed everyone in 2011 playing for Pune Warriors India. In the 2011 season he took 16 wickets while maintaining an economy of less than 6 RPO. He even went onto represent India in the limited over format. Sharma took 6 wickets in 4 ODIs and 3 wickets in 2 T20Is. He tested positive for taking recreational drugs in 2012 during a rave party in IPL 5. He last played in the IPL for Delhi Daredevils in 2014.
