Rinku Singh, a star for the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), disclosed that his captain Nitish Rana gave him the bat he used against the Gujarat Titans. Rinku Singh hits five consecutive sixes to defeat Gujarat Titans with 28 needed off 5 deliveries.
The KKR captain Nitish Rana questioned Rinku about his batting and what was going through his mind in the final over in a video that was uploaded by the IPL.
When 28 runs were needed off the final five balls, Rana enquires, “Rinku, how are you feeling now that your innings is over? Har koi puchna chahta hai ye, and everyone wants to know what was going through your mind when 28 was needed off the final five balls.”
“There was a doubt in my mind because I was not playing well and was not able to connect the ball properly,” Rinky responds. “Dimag me mere ye thoda sa doubt tha kyunki mai itna acha nahi kehl raha tha, ball nahi lag rahi thi mere se.”
Rinku responded to the situation by hitting the final two balls of Josh Little’s 19th over for a six and a four when 39 needed to be scored off the final eight balls.
A few hits against Little, according to Rinku, have boosted his confidence.
Ek Chakka and Ek Chaukla Marato Usse Confidence Aaya (second last over mey jab) (That six and four in the penultimate over gave me confidence)
I wasn’t thinking much during those last five balls; I was just playing according to the merit of the ball, he said. “Or fir jo last ki paanch ball thi, paanch chakke maare, aisa mai kuch soch nahi raha tha, bas jaisa ball aa raha tha,” he said.
Rinku also admitted that he was having flashbacks to the match against the Lucknow Super Giants from the previous year, which he was unable to complete. In that game, Rinkus smacked a 40-ball 15 and went 4, 6, 6, against Marcus Stoinis with 21 needed to win in the final over. By taking two wickets in two balls, including that of Runku, who was brilliantly caught by Evin Lewis as sweeper cover, Stoinis was able to defend 4 off 3 though. While trying to reach 211 runs, KKR lost the game by two runs.
I was experiencing flashbacks from the previous year. “Flashbacks aa rahe they of last year ke, yahi situation thi us time bhi. I was unable to finish it off while we were in the situation, says Rinku.
Nitish Rana showed kindness by giving Rinku his bat when he could have given Rinku anything.
‘I gave you my bat and you hit those five sixes from it, if you want anything else from me, feel free to ask,’ says Rana. ‘Apna jisse aap ne paanch chakke maare agar mere pass kuch aur bhi cheej hoti.
I only want your love, Rinku responds, “Nahi nahi bhaiya aapka pyar hai, aapka pyar his chahiye aur kuch nahi chahiye.”
Rana claims in another video released by KKR that he used the bat to play the entire domestic season before giving it to Rinku.
“Yeh mera match bat tha, dono match is se khela hun pura SMAT is se khela hun last year last ke 4-5 match is se khele hun aaj maine bat change kia. Rinku ne mujhse bat manga main dena nahi chata tha but koi andar se koi bat pick kar ke laya. Mujhe lag raha tha ki who yeh wala bat pick karega. Kyunki iska pick up bahut acha hai, aur yeh thoda light hai mere weight ke hisab se. Aur ab yeh rinku ka hi hai. Le liya usne mujhse (This was the bat I used in Syed Mushtaq Ali and in the last season as well. I never wanted to give it, and when he asked for a bat, I just told him go and pick one for you, and he picked this one, deep down I knew this he will pick this bat only and now the bat belongs to him,” says Rana.
Rinku’s innings in this person’s life have been marked by ya do baar khelte and mai toh ho sakta hai ek bhi na khel pau, according to Rana, who continued to praise Rinku. (I have never encountered anyone who is as pure and kind-hearted as Rinku. Such innings are only played once or twice in a person’s life, and I may never play one. I’m overjoyed for Rinku.
While closely observing the interview, Rahul Tewatia, who has also played such bizarre knocks in the IPL, pulled Rinku’s legs to straighten him up.
Tewatia inquires, “Aise kyu khada hai (Why are you standing in this manner? Nervous hota hun bhaiya, says Rinku. (I was nervous).
Tewatia asks another question while singing the tune “Nervous kis baat ka aaj koot diya” (Why are you nervous, you have played such a gem of a knock today).
