Chasing 221 was never going to be easy for Kolkata Knight Riders and with Deepak Chahar exploiting with the new ball, it almost made it impossible to even consider reaching the target. Chahar damaged the oppositions batting line-up as he took four wickets with the likes of Nitish Rana, Shubman Gill, Eoin Morgan and Sunil Narine.
During the fifth over, Knight Riders just had 31 for five and everyone thought that there is not much for them then. However, then entered Andre Russell with his astonishing batting performance and played a blistering knock of 54 runs off just 22 balls. He somehow managed to balance the team with his scores and after him, Dinesh Karthik stepped up to the field and added 40 runs to the scoreboard which drove the team to the 146 mark.
Karthik’s dismissal from the game in the fifteenth over made the team lose all the hopes to win. However, little did they know that the best performance is yet to come. After Dinesh Karthik’s dismissal, the Australian pacer Pat Cummins entered the field and showed some impressive power hitting as he scored 66 off 34 deliveries. In the end, KKR lost all their 10 wickets and Cummins remained not out on the field. Despite trying their best, KKR lost against the Super Kings by 18 runs.
