During a recent discussion on his YouTube channel, AB de Villiers expressed his confidence in Shubman Gill’s ability to shine as the highest run-scorer in the upcoming World Cup. De Villiers explained his choice, stating, “Shubman Gill will be the highest run-scorer in the World Cup this year. He is in great form. I always go with the batsman who opens. Sometimes with the person batting at number three. Shubman is a great player, and his technique is remarkable. He will be playing the World Cup on his home turf. Yes, there will be some pressure there, but I am picking him.”

Highlighting Gill’s distinctive style and technique, De Villiers added, “His style and technique are quite straightforward. You can say this about many other players as well. But players like Steve Smith and Shubman Gill are a little different. He utilizes his technique effectively without attempting extravagant innovations. He can adapt and apply pressure on the bowlers during a match.”
