Not the first time that an AUS-W vs IND-W match has been interrupted due to Rain at the Metricon Stadium, in Carrara on the Gold Coast in Queensland, Australia. The Only-Test Match played under lights – “The Pink Ball Test” also witnessed rain disrupting Day 1 and Day 2 of the four-day test match. As a result, the One-off Test Match ended in a draw.

The contest of AUS-W vs IND-W is a Multi-Format Series – the Commonwealth Bank Series between Australia and India, consisting of 3 ODI’s, One-off Day/Night Test Match and 3 T20I’s. The Aussie won the ODI’s Series by 2-1; by winning the 1st One-Day International by 9 Wickets, 2nd ODI resulted in last-ball decisive as Australia Women clinched it by 5 Wickets, whereas India Women won the 3rd ODI by 2 Wickets putting an end to Australia Women’s Cricket Team 26th straight ODI’s wins.

Now, after the AUS-W vs IND-W 1st T20I match was abandoned due to Rain, both Australia Women and India Women earned one point each as No Result was declared. Hence, Australia Women are leading by 7-5.

Harmanpreet Kaur is back leading the side in the T20I Series. Harmanpreet Kaur had missed the 3 ODI’s and the Pink-Ball Test Match due to a thumb injury.

Debutants: India – Yastika Bhatia makes her T20I Debut and Renuka Singh plays her Maiden International Game. Australia – Both Hannah Darlington and Tahlia McGrath making their T20I Debut.

Both Jemimah Rodrigues and Shikha Pandey are back in the squad for India after missing from the Playing XI through the series. Meanwhile, Jemimah Rodrigues was in the field as a Substitute Fielder – contributing as she saved many crucial runs with her excellent fielding.

Australia Women won the toss and elected to bowl first.

India’s Innings – Rain Interrupted the Play

India started very well as they looked to play big from the very start. Both Shafali Verma and Smriti Mandhana played big shots but Ashleigh Gardner strikes back for the Aussie sending the dangerous-looking openers back to the pavilion in the same over. India was 37/2 in 3.5 Overs.

Skipper Harmanpreet Kaur joined Jemimah Rodrigues in the crease. However, Harmanpreet Kaur departs after a good knock of 12 (off 5 deliveries). Then it was Jemimah Rodrigues, who’s in great form after a good season at The Hundred played a crucial 4th Wicket Partnership of 51 Runs with debutant Yastika Bhatia.

However, during the 15.2 over match was Stopped Due to Rain. Jemimah Rodrigues was one run away from a half-century was supported by Richa Ghosh in the crease. India was 131/4 at the moment.

Jemimah Rodrigues scored 49*(off 36). With this knock, Rodrigues earned an achievement as she reached her 1000 T20I runs with a boundary.

It looked like the play will resume in some time. But the weather had some other plans, as it then rained heavily.

Later on, the Match was Abandoned due to Rain. The next T20I will be played on 9th October.
