Bangladesh secured its first ODI win against Pakistan in March 1999, after a decade of trying to win their first match. However, Bangladesh’s first win against each opponent at home or away was achieved in different years and venues. Here is a closer look at the team’s first ODI match wins against different opponents at home and away.

Against Afghanistan:

Bangladesh’s first ODI match win against Afghanistan at home took place on September 28, 2016, at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur. Bangladesh won the match by 141 runs after scoring 279/8 and then restricting Afghanistan to 138/10. Bangladesh’s first win against Afghanistan away from home came on April 4, 2015, at the Manuka Oval in Canberra. Bangladesh won the match by 4 wickets after chasing down Afghanistan’s total of 260/6 with 5 balls remaining.

Against Australia:

Bangladesh is yet to win its first ODI match against Australia. The two teams have faced each other in five ODI matches, and Australia has won all five encounters. However, Bangladesh’s first ODI match against Australia was played on June 18, 2005, at Sophia Gardens in Cardiff.

Against Bermuda:

Bangladesh’s first ODI match win against Bermuda was achieved both at home and away, and in both cases, Bangladesh won the series 3-0. The home series was played on March 6, 2007, at the YTP, where Bangladesh won the final match by 10 wickets. The away series was played on August 20, 2008, at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in St John’s, where Bangladesh won the final match by 7 wickets.

Against Canada:

Bangladesh is yet to win its first ODI match against Canada. The two teams have faced each other in two ODI matches, and both matches were won by Canada.

Against England:

Bangladesh’s first ODI match win against England at home was on March 11, 2011, at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chittagong. Bangladesh won the match by two wickets after chasing down England’s total of 225/10. Bangladesh’s first win against England away from home was on July 10, 2010, at the County Ground in Bristol. Bangladesh won the match by five runs after scoring 236/7 and then restricting England to 231/10.

Against Hong Kong:

Bangladesh’s first ODI match win against Hong Kong was achieved both at home and away, and in both cases, Bangladesh won the series 3-0. The home series was played on December 20, 2016, at the YTP, where Bangladesh won the final match by 67 runs. The away series was played on July 22, 2004, at the Sinhalese Sports Club Ground in Colombo, where Bangladesh won the final match by 5 wickets.

Against India:

Bangladesh’s first ODI match win against India at home was on December 26, 2004, at the Bangabandhu National Stadium in Dhaka. Bangladesh won the match by 15 runs after scoring.
